Build a Shed

Step Back and Say, “I Did That!”

If it seems there is never enough storage space, maybe it is time for you to build a shed.

Somehow we accumulate stuff to the point that we can become overwhelmed with what we have accumulated, or at least at a loss as to where to put all the new treasures.

That is where taking the time to build a shed could become the answer to the perplexing storage problem.

There are other benefits to having a shed.

  • you gain more storage space
  • the value of your home increases
  • the shed can be transformed into a play house
  • a well build shed can even become an office

Building your own shed can also have some positive supplemental values.

  • it can be a family project
  • building it yourself is less expensive
  • your carpentry skills may increase
  • even your sense of accomplishment can improve

The success of your building project depends on some practical logistics.

  • make sure you have good plans
  • check for required building permits
  • calculate the cost before you start
  • choose the right time of the year

Those are important issues to consider. For instance, it is hugely frustrating to get half finished, then have the village building inspector show up and inform you of the required building permit.

Likewise, getting half done, then having ten inches of snow appear isn’t any fun.

By paying attention to those potential enjoyment-killers your experience as you build a shed can be positive and fulfilling.
