Fashion or Function – it’s All Good
When we talk about great hats, we are not talking about baseball hats worn backwards or askew from straight ahead.
We are talking about those hats that impart a woman with an intriguing sense of well-being and give men a touch of dignity or comfortable individuality.
In “The Horse Whisperer,” when asked, “Why do you always wear a hat?” Robert Redford answered, ” ’cause it fits my head.” Some degree of intriguing mystery about hats that hints at the personality of the wearer. For instance, on the day I celebrated my half-century birthday, I wrote a poem that started with the line, “When I grow up, I don’t want to be anything. I just want to have a hat.”

Be confident, wear a hat.
It takes confidence to wear hats. I know it is a generalization, but I think most women don’t wear hats to look good. They wear hats because they already look good. They know they look like a queen, and the hat is simply their crown.
Many golfers wear hats to keep their bald spot from gettng sunburned or advertise a product. Others aren’t afraid to deviate from the norm and wear a hat that exudes personality while still perfoming the function of protecting from the weather.
Some of the greatest hats are worn by fly fishermen. They portray a confident functionality, from holding hand tied flies to smelling of campfire smoke, those hats reflect the nature of a patient, assertive wearer.
Whatever the reason, your great hats are an external symbol of your inner strength and confidence.
